Catholic Opinion Research Survey

A National Survey of 10,000,000 Catholics Concerning the Role of Religion in American Public Life

Dear Fellow Christian,

In the next few weeks, CatholicVote will distribute a report on the results to . . .

  • Candidates for President and Congress
  • Members of Congress
  • Federal judges
  • Governors
  • State lawmakers
  • Reporters, journalists, and news media executives
  • Radio talk show hosts
  • Newspaper columnists
  • Influential bloggers and news websites

We expect this survey of 10,000,000 Christians to receive wide media coverage and the results to be studied carefully by America’s elected officials. The purpose of this survey is to . . .

1) Send a strong and clear message to politicians in Washington that America’s Christians are fed up with how our own government has been waging an all-out war on the traditional, moral, and religious values that made America great; and

2) Help CatholicVote identify and mobilize millions of Christians to make their views known in the all-important Elections on November 8th so we can end our government’s assault on America’s religious and moral traditions.

Christians are being harassed, intimidated, and silenced by our own government for holding traditional Christian beliefs. Now is when every Christian must rise up and say “NO,” or we’ll lose our freedoms and our nation forever.

Please complete the Contribution Reply Section after this survey to help CatholicVote save America on November 8th.

Thank You for taking a stand for Faith, Family, and Freedom.

Sincerely,

Brian Burch

President, CatholicVote

Part A: The Role of Religion in American Public Life

QUESTION #1: The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled it unconstitutional for the Ten Commandments to be posted in government buildings, unless part of a larger educational exhibit. What’s your view of this ruling?

QUESTION #2: "In 2002, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit ruled that it is unconstitutional for public schools to say "One Nation Under God" in the “Pledge of Allegiance” in public schools. What’s your view of this ruling?

ISSUE SUMMARY: The ACLU and other anti-Christian organizations have been leading a campaign in the courts for decades to outlaw religious symbols, displays and quotations from American public life.

QUESTION #3: What do you think is the true agenda behind the ACLU’s efforts to erase every last trace of America’s Christian heritage from American public life?

QUESTION #4: How would you describe your own political philosophy?

ISSUE SUMMARY: CatholicVote believes the 2016 Election is probably the most important election of our lifetime because this is the election that will decide whether we can revive the moral and religious values and beliefs that made America great.

QUESTION #5: How strongly do you agree or disagree with this assessment by CatholicVote?

QUESTION #6: Are you currently registered to vote?

QUESTION #7: Among the candidates now running, who do you currently support for President?

QUESTION #8: Will you solemnly pledge right now to vote in the 2016 Election?

QUESTION #9: Will you send your best donation right now to help fund this CatholicVote Battle Plan for the 2016 Elections that Brian Burch outlined for you in his letter?

Part B: Our Government’s War on Christianity

QUESTION #1: What’s your reaction to the fact that Christian bakers in Portland, Oregon, were fined $135,000 for refusing to participate in a same-sex wedding ceremony?

QUESTION #2: Do you think this $135,000 fine is an assault on the Constitution’s First Amendment protections for freedom of religion, freedom of conscience, and freedom of association for these Christian bakers?

ISSUE SUMMARY: Christian bakers, photographers, and wedding service providers are being fined by
the courts and even threatened with imprisonment for refusing to participate in same-sex wedding ceremonies. These Christian businesses cite the Bible’s moral teachings that homosexual conduct is a sin and the Christian definition of marriage that can only be “a union between one man and one woman.” The Mayor of Houston, Texas, subpoenaed the sermons of Houston pastors to see if these pastors might be teaching that homosexual conduct is a sin.

QUESTION #3: How concerned are you that Christianity (which includes Christian moral teachings) is quickly becoming criminalized in America?

ISSUE SUMMARY: Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is telling Christians that “deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed.” In other words, she is saying Christians need to change their beliefs to agree with same-sex “marriage” and abortion-on-demand (including partial-birth abortion) and even threatens saying “Laws have to be backed up with resources and political will” [against those who subscribe to Christian moral beliefs.]

QUESTION #4: What’s your opinion of the fact that Hillary Clinton says she wants to use the full force of government to change the beliefs of Christians to conform to support for same-sex “marriage” and support for abortion-on-demand?

ISSUE SUMMARY: The Inspector General of the IRS has concluded that the IRS has purposely targeted more than 500 Catholic, Christian, and other organizations that disagree with President Obama with punishing audits.

QUESTION #5: How concerned are you that the IRS is being used as a weapon against those who disagree with President Obama, Hillary Clinton, and the anti-Christian Left?

QUESTION #6: Do you agree with CatholicVote that President Obama, Hillary Clinton, and the anti-Christian Left are trying to use the power of government to eliminate every last trace of Christian influence from American public life?

ISSUE SUMMARY: The U.S. Supreme Court has become the most powerful arm of government especially with the four radical, anti-Christian Justices now on the court who make up their own laws out of thin air instead of following the Constitution and laws Congress passes. For example, the court in 2016 declared same-sex “marriage” to be a fundamental Constitutional right, when no such right exists in the Constitution. Whoever is elected President in 2016 is likely to have three new Supreme Court appointments and will set the direction of the court for at least the next 25 years.

QUESTION #7: How important do you think it is who we elect as President of the United States on November 8, 2016?

Part C: Forcing Catholics and Pro-Life Americans to Pay for Abortions
ISSUE SUMMARY: The Little Sisters were forced to sue the Obama administration just to maintain their religious freedom. The Department of Heath and Human Services under President Obama tried to force this order of Catholic nuns to comply with the “Abortifacient and Contraception Mandate” in ObamaCare that requires all Americans (including Catholic and other pro-life Americans) to purchase health insurance that includes coverage for contraception and abortifacients – drugs that can cause abortions.

QUESTION #1: Do you think the Little Sisters of the Poor (along with all Catholics and pro-life Americans) should be required by law to purchase health insurance that includes coverage for abortifacients and contraception?

QUESTION #2: Do you agree or disagree with CatholicVote that this “Abortifacient and Contraception Mandate” in ObamaCare is an unconstitutional violation of the FIRST AMENDMENT’s protections for religious freedom and freedom of conscience?

QUESTION #3: Do you believe ObamaCare is more about making sure the poor have health insurance coverage and keeping health care costs down? Or is ObamaCare more about advancing the anti-Christian, pro-abortion radical social and moral agenda

Part D: The 2016 Election

QUESTION #1: If Hillary Clinton wins the Presidency on November 8, 2016, she will likely get to appoint three more Supreme Court Justices. What kind of Justices do you think she will likely appoint?

QUESTION #2: If you had to guess, do you think America in the elections on November 8th will REJECT the anti-Christian bias that now dominates our federal government and return to the values of faith, freedom, and the moral values that made America great? Or do you think America will be transformed into an anti- Christian, mostly socialist country?

QUESTION #3: How much danger do you think America is in right now as a result of our government’s escalating assaults on Christianity and traditional morality in America?

QUESTION #4: In recent years, the ACLU and other anti-Christian groups have focused on erasing Easter and Christmas from America’s national calendar. What do you think the long-term consequence of this for America will be?

ISSUE SUMMARY: In the battle over whether Christmas should continue to be a national holiday in America, Fox News Commentator Bill O’Reilly summarized the stakes in this way:
“The importance of the Christmas controversy is that it has become the centerpiece of the culture war between traditional Americans and secular progressives. Outside of the war on terror, this culture war is the most important thing happening in the country today.”

QUESTION #5: Do you agree or disagree with O’Reilly?

QUESTION #6: Why do you think the ACLU and the Left have made it such a major priority to remove all religious meaning from Christmas?

QUESTION #7: What do you think America’s Founding Fathers (the authors of America’s Constitution; men such as George Washington) would think of the efforts by the ACLU and the radical Left to eliminate all references to God from American public life?
